Twenty-two Karat gold woven thread, French Silk thread, Sterling Silver cording. These and only these exquisite embroidery materials are used in our Embroidered works of art. Once you have ordered your Blazoning, our Native Scottish embroiderers turn it into a one of a kind family keepsake.
Not far from Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland our Gaelic ladies hand-stitch your family heirloom. Of course when every stitch is meticulously done by hand, it takes a bit of time.
Once your Blazon of Arms Certificate is finished, a copy of your Coat of Arms is sent to our art department and when it gets there we commission an artist who is on staff to draw in the correct proportion and colours according to the size you would like to have in your home or office. We then cut the Gold, Silver and imported French Silk thread. Then the whole package is sent to a Lady in her own home and she hand crafts it. In other words, there is no factory, and each is hand-made.
It takes the Lady approximately 195 to 200 hours to Hand Stitch it, that is about 5 to 6 working weeks and in fact it takes them longer to stitch them in the Winter time than it does in the Summer time. You see, in the Wintertime the artificial lighting shining on the Gold and Silver thread makes it hard on the eyes doing such intricate work. However, it normally takes about 5 to 6 weeks for the Lady to Stitch your Heirloom. When she finishes it she then sends it back to our office where it is checked for Heraldic accuracy. The reason for this is simple, the Lady doing the stitching doesn't know the first thing about Heraldry. Our Ladies expertise is in Embroidery.
Once your Coat of Arms is all checked for Heraldic accuracy and quality control it is then sent to you at your own home or office, direct from Scotland. A family Coat of Arms is a gift that the receiver will keep forever, to be passed down through the generations. If you choose to send one as a gift to a relative or loved one, we will first send the receiver their Blazon of Arms Certificate on Parchment, with a note letting them know that their Coat of Arms has been commissioned and the approximate time it will be arriving from Scotland. As the Blazon of Arms can be finished relatively quickly, this makes holiday buying no problem as your loved one will receive their beautiful Blazon of Arms as a promissory of wonderful things to come. The total price for your Heirloom includes Postage, Packing, Handling and Insurance.
If you are interested in a unique piece such as a Corporate Logo, military badges of honor or anything else you may wish to see done in our exquisite embroidery, we can create it. We have done commemoratives such as for weddings or babies births or graduations. Be sure and contact us with your wishes. We will make sure to do our very best to fulfill them.
"As touching the antiquitie of these signes which we call Armes, Diodorus Siculus maketh mention,
that Osyris, surnamed Jupiter the just, sonne to Cham the cursed sonne of Noah, called of
the Gentiles Janus, being banished from the blessed Tents of Shem and Japhet, by reason
of the curse fallen upon his father, was constrained to seeke some remote place wherein
he might settle himselfe, his children, and people: For which purpose he assembled
a great Armie, and appointed Hercules his eldest sonne Captaine. And in this
so ancient an expedition of warres, as well Osyris himselfe as Hercules,
Macedon and Anubis his sonnes, and others, did paint certaine signes
upon their shields, bucklers, and other weapons; which signes were
after called Armes. As for example, Osyris bare a Scepter royall,
insigned on the top with an Eie; Hercules a Lion rampant, holding a Battle-axe;
Macedon a Wolfe, and Anubis a Dogge. In this first assumption of their signes, every man
did take to himselfe some such beast, bird, serpent, or other creature, as he thought best fitting
his estate, or whose nature and qualitie did in some sort quadrate with his owne, or
whereunto himselfe was in some respect like in qualitie, or wished to bee resembled unto."
